CHINESE AGRICULTURE CONSUMPTION MAY RECOVER FROM THE END OF APRIL2020

If the Covid-19 epidemic is controlled, the Chinese agricultural and aquatic product consumption market is forecasted to recover in late April and early May 2020.

According to the Department of Agro-Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), China has reduced tax on 80 food items (out of a total of over 800 items) to boost imports to meet domestic demand according to each market segment or area.

Specifically, the people in regions of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen tend to consume high quality imported products, focusing on food hygiene and safety issues; people in the areas of Thai Hung, Truong Hung, Giang To, and the areas near the border of Vietnam prefer products with moderate prices.

With the agricultural markets of the EU and the US, it is expected that until June and July 2020, the new agricultural import market can reactivate. The United States has a great demand for tropical products such as dragon fruit, longan, rambutan, and star apple. Besides, the European has a demand for processed fruits and vegetables (lemon juice, pineapple juice, ground ginger, coconut water, dried coconut and so on); and fresh fruits such as dragon fruit, longan, durian, watermelon, mangosteen, lychee, mango and so on.

For the Japan and Korea market, it is expected that the market for importing agricultural products can not reactivate until June or July 2020. Japan has great demand for tropical products such as dragon fruit, banana, mango, longan, and rambutan. Korea needs processed fruits and vegetables (lemon juice, pineapple juice, ground ginger, coconut water, dried coconut and so on); and fresh fruits such as dragon fruit, longan, durian, watermelon, mangosteen, lychee, mango and so on.

Besides, other markets such as Canada and Russia will have demand for processed fruits and vegetables (lemon juice, pineapple juice, ground ginger, coconut water, dried coconut and so on); fresh fruits (dragon fruit, longan, durian, watermelon, mangosteen, lychee, mango and so on); other products such as coffee, seafood products and so on.
